Managed Service Provider
A managed service provider (MSP), is a company that receives income from services, typically on a monthly basis.

Recently, a managed service provider is a company that manages information technology (IT) services for other companies via the Internet. An MSP is a "company that offers continuous outsourcing of an IT function -- it works on a recurring revenue model; it monitors and fixes things proactively; and it does all this over the Internet, rather than having to work hands-on at a client's office."

Common services provided by MSPs include remote network, desktop and security monitoring, patch management and remote data back-up, as well as technical assistance.

However, the market place has spoken loudly for companies to make the jump from MSP (managed service providers) and ASP (application service provider) models to the advantageous SaaS, or ‘Software as a Service’ model.

Wizmo Inc, a SaaS (Software as a Service) solution provider.  SaaS is a model of software deployment where an application is hosted as a service provided to customers across the Internet.  By eliminating the need to install and run the application on the customer's own computer, SaaS alleviates the customer's burden of software maintenance, ongoing operation, and support.  Using SaaS also can reduce the up-front expense of software purchases, through less costly, on-demand pricing.  From the software vendor's standpoint, SaaS has the attraction of providing stronger protection of its intellectual property and establishing an ongoing revenue stream.
